Can I transfer an executable file from computer to computer?

I just recently encountered various malware and viruses on my laptop; so, in resolution I restored my computer with the wrong restoration disc (Gateway notebook w/ Dell CD-ROM) and I cannot find the Gateway disc. I deleted the partition and my computer does not have sound nor can I connect to the internet. I now need to transfer from my desktop (executable files from the Gateway site) to my laptop. Is it possible and/or is there anyway I can recover my original partition and if so what is the process? Thanx~
