Halo CE won't install on my PC?

I have windows 7, and I don't know if that's the problem, but when I put in the disc to install Halo combat Evolved, it just won't open. There's the usual whirring sound that always happens when you insert a disc. But the computer just won't read the disc, it doesn't even show it in the computer! Please help, thanks:D
