Whats the obsession over twilight?

I honestly don't get it. I watched both movies and both times I fell asleep (apparently on some random guy next to me). The acting is horrible and emotionless (please do not say it has good acting. My 4 year old brother can put more effort into it). It is lo budget borderline B movie. The plot is uninteresting and there are a lack of events in the movie to grab interest. So what is it? Why do I have the feeling the only reason people like it is because its the "cool" thing to do? Thanks.
