Can you pull a puppies canine tooth?

My 4 1/2 month old german shepherd puppy is teething, and he was chewing on a rawhide bone. I noticed some blood which isn't unusual, but i took a look at which tooth he was loosing and it was his canine tooth. It was lying flat against the roof of his mouth. Do i try to remove it myself, or wait until thurs. ( his next vet visit) and let them look at if if he doesn't swallow it? I am unsure of letting him swallow it with it being a canine tooth. Any ideas?
