How can i get an untamed cat to come toward my barn?

we want a barn cat that wont try to come to the house, but everytime we see it, and go out to give it food, it runs. it looks hungry, and ive set out food in the barn. it needs to know that if it will come to us, we will feed it. but how!?!?!?!!?
